Wire - Life In The Manscape (7-inch Version)

I can't say I'm a huge Wire fan, but every once in a while they release something that catches my ear. Such is the case with this week's track. I picked up the CD single for "Life in the Manscape" at a used CD store for 50 cents. Knowing that Wire didn't always do it for me, I knew that I wouldn't be out much if I made the purchase and decided to never listen to it again. Well, I did listen it again. And again. And again. In fact, it soon became my favorite Wire song.

The song was released in 1990 and came out in a particularly accessible era of Wire's career (in stark contrast to some of their earlier experimental work in the late 70s and early 90s). I'm a pop music fan so I tend to shy away from anything too experimental, but this track hooked me the first time I heard with its pop sensibility and smooth synth sound. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

i just wanted to say that i've been a follower of your site/blog since the 90s (i think) when you were called 'blake's synthpop page'. can't believe it's been over a decade and you are still posting great unheard of hits from the past for the new generation to appreciate. I just want to thank you for all the work and effort you put into putting up this site and i will continue to follow and look forward to all future songs you put on the page!!

Same here!

I splurged this Christmas and got myself a USB turntable, and have enjoyed the past few weeks re-listening to tracks I hadn't played in years.

I was reminded of your site from listening to a remix that I had to hunt down on eBay after first downloading it from here (one of several, I confess). I'm delighted to see that you're still around and blogging again.

Thanks, man.

Good to hear from people who still remember the old site(s). Wow, it's been a LONG time since Blake's Synthpop Page! Those were great times and I met a lot of really neat people. I always like talking music!

I appreciate all the kind words. I can't keep it up with a new track every single week like clockwork, but I definitely want to pop on and post new tracks when time permits.
